What is Fiction for Young Muslims (Fiction4You.)?

In short, Fiction4You. is An-Najm Publishers' brand that refers to creative fictional books we publish; they are predominantly written by Muslims, and marketed primarily to Muslims aged 12-24, although suitable for non-Muslims also. They are books that are on-par with mainstream fiction in terms of quality of content and production, the main difference being that they feature Muslim characters, and the content is sensitive to Islamic teachings. 

Fiction4You. (You being an abbreviation of Young), is An-Najm's brand for all books published for young Muslims aged 12-24.

Does Fiction4You. preach?

Definitely not! They may include references to historical events, in passing, but they are not written to preach, talk down or make anyone feel less of a Muslim. They tell fantastic stories, while being extremely realistic - no more 'super Muslim' stories! Fiction4You. relates to issues teens and young adult Muslims are going through, and touch upon such topics. Best of all, Fiction4You. demonstrates that Muslims are humans too... in all our non-perfect, fallible ways, but Islam is our way of life.

Is there a need for Fiction4You.?

There most certainly is, and here's why. Because...

  • ... teens and young adults bond with characters they can relate to; characters who are struggling just as they are. Yes, you will find fiction for these age groups, but how many are not sensitive to Islamic teachings? We say: way too many!

  • ... stories which are not preachy, which do not have a predictable storyline, and which do not condone acts which are contradictory to Islam are more beneficial for teens and the youth as leisurely reading compare to books that are the opposite. Don't you agree?

  • ... Fiction4You. is an illustrative form of art; it differs from simple fact, yet places fact into real-life scenarios - a mind-blowing imaginative way of showing how Islam is applicable to every area of our lives. It also has the potential of being an extremely powerful da'wah tool.

  • ... it is a window to get a glimpse into the life of others - those who are Muslims in faith, yet different in character, and drive home how we can best avoid mistakes characters make.

  • ... Muslims are humans too, infallible but striving, and Fiction4You. does not set out to make us more perfect than we are.
